About the NWPA NTMA Education Foundation

The Education Foundation is a Non-Profit 501c3 organization that offers a number of scholarships annually to students who are interested in post-secondary training to prepare for a career in the tool, die and manufacturing industry.  Click for more information regarding scholarships

The Foundation also promotes workforce development through K to 12th grade programming such as Robobots, Career Exploration Opportunities, and New Equipment and Software for technical education classes.  NWPA NTMA Education Foundation is an approved Educational Improvement Organization and may accept contributions through Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)!  Click to learn more about EITC

Board of Directors

The NWPA NTMA Education Foundation Board is comprised of members who are dedicated to the educational outreach of students interested in the tool, die and manufacturing industry. 

President - Chris Minnis, Laser Tool & Plastics.  A Meadville resident, Chris is President/Owner of Laser Tool & Plastics and also serves on the Board of Directors of the NWPA NTMA.

Vice-President – Tim Barickman, NuTec Tooling.  A Meadville native, Tim has been in the machining trade since 1979 and currently serves as Estimating Manager for NuTec Tooling Systems, Inc.  Tim volunteers for the Crawford County Career and Technical Center, Precision Machining Advisory Committee, and helps with organizing RoboBOTS.

Treasurer – Stephen Lewis, HBK CPAs & Consultants.  A Meadville native, serving as an Associate for HBK.  Stephen has worked in public accounting since 1997, currently as a member of the HBK corporate tax specialist team.

Secretary – Joshua Beerbower, McGill, Power, Bell & Associates LLP.  A Meadville native, serving as a Staff Accountant for McGill, Power, Bell & Associates, LLP.  Joshua is a graduate of Penn State University with a BS in accounting, minor in Legal Environment of Business and specializes in for-profit tax preparation. 

Mark Evans, Highpoint Tool & Machine.  A Conneautville native, serving as Sales/Estimating for Highpoint Tool & Machine.  Mark has worked in the industry since 1973 and volunteers time to the Ken Kull Scholarship Foundation.

Len Armel, Acutec Precision Aerospace.  Currently residing in Saegertown, Len has been in the manufacturing industry since 1989.  

Chris Yost, Cochranton Junior Senior High School.  A Cochranton resident, serving as a Teacher of Technology & Engineering at Cochranton Junior Senior High School.  Chris has been a teacher since 2007.  He also serves as Robotics Advisor. 

Mark Smith, Northwest Bank.  A Meadville native, serving as a Business Banker for Northwest Bank, Mark has worked in the industry since 2003.  He is a graduate of Gannon University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Randy Jones, Marlan Tool.  A Meadville native, serving as a Plant Manager for Marlan Tool, Randy has worked in the industry since 1980.

Doug Nelson, Precision Manufacturing Institute.  A Meadville native, serving as an Admissions Director for Precision Manufacturing Institute (PMI). Doug has been in the machining industry since 1976.

Daniel Walsh, First National Bank. Currently residing in Edinboro, serving as a Commercial Lender for First National Bank, Dan has worked in the industry since 2008.  He is a graduate of Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Penn State with an MBA.

Mark Proper, Proper Cutter. Mark is President/Co-Owner of Proper Technologies, Inc. and a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.  He has gained a diverse experience within the manufacturing industry since 1994.

Tye Cressman, Esq., Cressman Erde Ferguson, LLC.  Tye is a Partner at Cressman Erde Ferguson in Meadville where he practices estate planning and elder law.  His is a 2005 graduate of Penn State University and a 2008 graduate of Dickinson School of Law.
