2017 Chairman's Visit

NTMA Chairman Emphasizes The Value of Family in American Manufacturing

NTMA 2017 Logo

Mark Vaughn, 2017 NTMA Chairman of the Board and President of Vaughn Manufacturing, Nashville, Tennessee, recently visited the Northwestern PA Chapter of the NTMA.  His message "Made by American Families" hit home with NWPA Chapter Members.  The majority of NTMA Member companies are family owned and operated, small to mid-size businesses.  His message was not only about family business ownership, but also the generations of individuals who have devoted their talents to the trade.  His business and many others he mentioned employ father/son, uncle/nephew, husband/wife, father/daughter, brothers, and sisters.  And the family connection often extends to all the employees who are committed to make the business successful.  It is American ingenuity and the passion of those working in the trade that keep American Manufacturers competitive.

What is the status of American Manufacturing?     Growth and Optimism Are Here:

  • Purchasing Manager Index increased from 54.7% in December to 57.7% in February…unprecedented!
  • Continued growth fore-casted into 2018 in all industry segments except furniture making.
  • Oil prices increasing and rig counts up slightly.
  • NTMA Business Condition Survey – more optimism!
  • 115,600 IMTS visitors – capital equipment orders surged.
